Pros & Cons Of Online Degrees

Pros & Cons Of Online Degrees

Pros & Cons of Online Degrees

Here you will find info concerning getting a degree online.

Online degrees provide people a way to get the degrees from their homes, away from the requiring campus of a college. This enables a greater number of students to go to university, but it can come with its set of problems as well. They vary from the stigma coupled with degrees online to the shortage of human interaction in classes. Here you will find advantages as well as disadvantages of earning a degree online. Know whether this is a good means to get your degree or not.

Significance – A major advantage of earning an online degree is that online courses can be taken miles away from the near college or university. It allows online learners to attend university without paying for additional living costs.

2. Function – In general, online degrees mean that the student coursework may be done on a far more flexible schedule than that of a campus-based program. Besides, online lectures may be downloaded as well as “attended” at the learner’s leisure.
3. Features – The tuition for online studies is often much less than for an on campus university.
4. Considerations – Certain employers take degrees online less seriously than traditional ones. This stigma may make it mcuh harder to land a job after online college graduation.
5. Effects – A main con for most online learner is the shortage of the student setting with online degrees. Actually students miss out on class discussions, advice from their professors as well as meeting other students.

Question by AC: Better to start as Accountant or Financial Analyst?
So I recently graduated with a BBA with a major in finance and minor in accounting (have 18 credit hours in accounting). I’m looking to start my career now, and im debating on which field I should go into. Does anyone have any pros, cons, or adivce for each field.

If it matters I do plan on getting my MBA and will most likely double major in finance and accounting this time; dont think ill be going for my CPA.

Pros/Cons of getting Masters HRM at same University as Bachelor’s? Or do Master’s in OLL at different school?

Question by Su: Pros/Cons of getting Masters HRM at same University as Bachelor’s? Or do Master’s in OLL at different school?
I’m looking to get my masters in HR Managemement (HRM), and I’m thinking of doing it in the same university (Florida International University) where I got my Bachelor’s degree. Someone told me that I should do it in a different school – to get more diversity (I guess with different teachers)… anyway, so the other option would be to go to Barry University, which doesn’t offer a masters in HRM, but it does offer a Masters in Organizational Learning and Leadership (OLL)… any thoughts/recommendations/feedback would be tremendously apreciated!

Is yoga + Talk Therapy a good idea?

Question by Anna C: Is yoga + Talk Therapy a good idea?
So I was thinking of starting a business of teaching yoga for the first half of a session (45 minutes of poses) and then talk therapy for the second 45 minutes. The goal of this business would be to help people gain confidence in themselves, express gratitude, banish negative thinking, and become all around healthier while having an open forum to discuss and debate their problems with others, much like group therapy sessions. My therapy sessions will be focused on changing bad habits through Cognitive Behavior Therapy.

I have an MBA with a concentration in leadership and personality, and I will be a certified yoga instructor by the time I open a studio.

Trying to get outside input on this idea. Pros/Cons? Thoughts? Please keep comments constructive, thanks.
Thanks for all the input. Just to be clear, while doing poses, no talking is involved. The poses help clear the mind for the therapy session afterward.

Another point is that I have no formal training in Psychology, just life experiences, an interest and lots of Psychology books.

breaking down the business majors. management vs marketing?

Question by Carlie: breaking down the business majors. management vs marketing?
I’m currently enrolled in a community college working towards my associates degree in business administration. I’m still deciding on what 4 year school that i will be transferring too. Before i can decide on what school, i need to decide what branch of business i want to major in. My original plan was business management because i work in retail now and enjoy it. i’m now taking my first marketing class and ive always been interested in advertising. So my question is how do business management and Marketing majors compare? What are the pros, cons and professions that can come out of each?

Best answer:

Answer by Pat
Here’s the thing that I’ve seen to be true out in the corporate environment: people who study management are rarely good at being managers.

The reason is that a degree in management doesn’t really teach anything; you would have little to no skills actually doing anything else. Plus, management can be learned. You’re either the type to be really good at it or you won’t be. Being educated in “management” as a study would not change anything.

Marketing is an extremely effective major. It can open doors to many different career paths and certainly put you on the way to management if you’re good. It’s also easier to find a position in entry-level marketing with a salary that can range from 25K-85K annually. Management positions for those who are right out of school are typically non-existent, unless you have an MBA.

Hope this helps.

Question by unknown: UC merced or CSUFresno who has better business school?
who has the better business school? or if you have attended one of them how did you enjoy like it pros cons anything to help me decide where to go thank you

Best answer:

Answer by neniaf
UC Merced doesn’t actually have a business school. It has a Management major within the School of Social Sciences, Humanities, and Arts. CSUF isn’t one of the best of the CSU business schools, but at least it has been around for a while and is a legitimate business school.

Moving to another city without a guaranteed job?

Question by OOO: Moving to another city without a guaranteed job?
So I graduated last month with my MBA from a top business program in Boston and am considering making a move to either San Jose, CA, Seattle, WA, or Portland, OR for employment opportunities because those are three cities I can envision myself living in. The job market in those cities is comparable to the market in my current city, but recruiters and companies I’ve spoken with have told me that they want LOCAL candidates only and not out-of-state candidates. Therefore I’m thinking of making a move to one of those cities without having a guaranteed job lined up. I’m a CPA that’s not looking to get back into accounting (looking for a finance or investment role), but if push comes to shove, I may have to do that (there are always accounting jobs, it seems).

I’m looking to hear from people either in a similar situation or who have done something like this before regarding the pros/cons and risks/rewards. Is this too much of a leap of faith??

Best answer:

Answer by the_unluckiest
If you have money and friends in those cities, I recommend you ask those friends for permission to use their address as your address on your resume. This will help open doors for you since they are not wanting out of state candidates. I used my friend’s address in San Diego and it worked wonders. I applied to the same jobs with my home address and they didn’t respond, but responded promptly when I used my friend’s address (it didn’t even register with them that it was the same person with the same resume but with a different address!). If that’s not an option for you to be able to fly on a whim for job interviews you might get (by using your friend’s address), then you might just have to do the move with no job prospects.

It is daunting to move to a new city but if you have friends there, you can always ask if it’s okay to crash for a few weeks until you get settled.

Pros & Cons of a International MBA?

Question by twinkle_byul: Pros & Cons of a International MBA?
I’m from the US and I’m interested in pursuing a MBA abroad (Asia, Europe) for international exposure but was wondering how they were generally viewed. Specifically, its advantage in getting a job in 1) US and 2) Abroad. Or would it be not worth my while than just getting a MBA stateside? I guess I am wondering how well or poorly an international MBA stacks against a MBA from home.
