Advanced Design Consulting and Binghamton University to Begin Designing Devices Able to Detect Stockpiled Uranium and Plutonium

Lansing, NY (PRWEB) March 8, 2005 -

– Experts under the auspices of Advanced Design Consulting in Lansing, New York, and Binghamton University are beginning to design and prototype monitors that can remotely detect plutonium, uranium, and other fissile materials used in the making of nuclear weapons. The designers are working under a contract granted to ADC and Binghamton University by Nuclear Nonproliferation Administration (NNPA).

“We’ve assembled a team whose members have expertise in the areas of radiation detection and device packaging,” says Alex Deyhim, president of ADC. “The monitors will be an innovative implementation of computer memory technology to produce a passive gamma ray detector. In addition the development of such a devise will support and strengthen our nation’s ongoing concern of limiting nuclear proliferation for potential dangerous countries such Iran and North Korea.”

“By recording any changes in gamma ray emissions, the detectors will be able to accurately assess the size and location of stockpiled plutonium and uranium” says Eric Johnson, Advanced Design Consulting USA’s vice president of research. The monitoring can be implemented in a small, non-powered package for clandestine surveillance or incorporated into a communication network for continuous assessment.

The project team is made up of Eric J. Cotts, professor of physics and materials science at Binghamton University; Eric Johnson, vice president for research at ADC; Peter Borgesen, a manager with Universal Instruments Corporation; and John Emerson, a consulting expert from the Sandia Corporation.

About the company: Advanced Design Consulting USA, Inc. Its probably due to where the schools are located. Baruch is in the heart of New York City, the capital of the world(yes, I am biased lol), and home to countless businesses. While the Binghamton/Vestal area is in a very modest and economically depressed area .

Its much easier to get an internship and build up a network in New York…I think its a vital part of any college that is often overlooked.

Binghamton University Featured on NBC’s “Today” Show

Binghamton University is the nation’s #4 “Best Value” public college for 2011 according to The Princeton Review, one of America’s best-known education services companies. Moving up two slots from last year’s #6 ranking, Binghamton University was again heralded for being a great return on investment for its students. “Even in this challenging economy, Binghamton University continues to provide an excellent education and exceptional value to students and their families,” said Interim President Peter Magrath. “We take pride in our ability to think creatively about our activities and our ability to tap into any possible innovations so that we can continue to provide the kind of high quality education that our students have come to expect from Binghamton University.” The Princeton Review teamed with USA TODAY, one of the nation’s most widely read newspapers, to present its list, “The Princeton Review Best Value Colleges for 2011.” In its profile of Binghamton on USA TODAY’s website, the editors at The Princeton Review commend the University for its ability to offer “students a true value: This medium-sized university is more competitive than many of the northeast’s private schools, yet its top-notch education is available for a low state-school price.”

Please compare these schools for business major, especially Accounting and Management?

Hello, guys.
I’ve got a problem for my admission decision.
I got admissions from SUNY at Buffalo and Binghamton.
I applied to major in accounting and management, but I just got those for school of management.
I want to major in Accounting, so what do you think about it and which school would be better in your thought for Accounting or Business major.
I don’t have any idea for that since I’m an international student.
Although I know some, but I think that’s not enough.
So I ask you now which one would be good for my career.
Please answer me if you know those schools well.
God bless you. :)
