Monica Baxter, the latest recipient of the September Sarder Scholarship is a single mother who has been dealing with being laid off after a car accident which left her with a permanent neck injury. The Sarder Scholarship is awarded on a monthly basis to deserving students interested in advancing their careers in the fields of business or information technology. The $ 2,500 scholarship is available for use toward any of the NetCom Learning courses as part of Netcom Learnings dedication to lifelong learning.

Monica worked as a Contractor Network Administrator for a large government contracting company for more than seventeen years before suffering a permanent neck disability in a car accident. She was left with no compensation and expensive COBRA payments which left her facing the possibility of losing everything including her home. She recently obtained a new job which requires that she obtain Security+ certification in order to keep her job. She is also working on her Masters degree in Information System Security but is only able to take one course at a time due to money constraints.

We are so pleased to be able to offer assistance to Monica who has been working so hard to achieve her goals in the field of information technology and through no fault of her own has had to struggle to keep things together. This scholarship will help her to keep her job and work toward her goal of of achieving success in the world of information security, said Russell Sarder, CEO of NetCom Learning.

Monica Baxter has been working for the last ten years to make a career path for herself in information system security. My goals are to obtain my A+, Network+, Security+ and Ethical Hacking certifications, and when I am brave enough, I want to take the SSCP certification exam, said Baxter. Being able to complete the Security+ certification will help me keep my home and gain more work experience and continue to work on my other certifications because my employment puts money in the bank and pays the existing loans, she said. Monica is very humble about her winning the scholarship, stating that, I am one of many who have become unemployed and who have needs and desires. I am grateful for any opportunity to help better my situation and help me provide for my family, she said.
