An ICD-10 and enterprise testing expert from Edifecs, Inc. will be sharing best practices for ICD-10 collaborative testing at a virtual event organized by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI). The event, End-to-End Testing: A Collaborative Approach to Testing, Readiness and Compliance features sessions that explore several types of ICD-10 collaborative testing scenarios and checklists, including those for providers, clearinghouses, payers and vendors.

Ryan McDermitt, senior director of Product Management at Edifecs, will share his expertise and offer best practices for end-to-end testing during the Vendors Roadmap to Testing, Readiness and Compliance session. He will also share the vendor perspective on payer-provider collaboration and how to use technology to alleviate some of the burden. The discussion is one of several interactive sessions comprising a daylong online event designed to help healthcare organizations fully prepare for the transition to ICD-10 on October 1, 2014. End-to-end testing is a critical component to help organizations assess operational readiness and uncover potential hiccups or unexpected outcomes prior to implementation. McDermitts session will include a suggested checklist and approach for end-to-end testing specific to vendors and will look for feedback from participants.

WHO: Ryan McDermitt, Senior Director of Product Management at Edifecs, is responsible for overall product direction for the Edifecs ICD-10 Solution. He has leveraged his experience in consulting while at Deloitte and product/program development for WellPoint to develop and deliver health insurance products used by millions of people. McDermitts primary career focus has been on health care analytics, data mining and applying aspects of machine learning to healthcare transactions, and he has spent the last several years developing tools for assessing risk and modeling data for the impending transition to ICD-10. In addition to his role at Edifecs, McDermitt serves as a senior research analyst at Carnegie Mellon Universitys Auton Lab, a post-doctoral lab dedicated to machine learning and applied statistics.
